Description
The Department of Mathematics was established in the academic year 1993–1994 as one of the main departments of the Faculty of Science. The annual system was initially adopted, and the first graduating cohort completed its studies in the academic year 1997–1998. In the academic year 2004–2005, the semester system was approved at the faculty. Since then, the Department of Mathematics has been striving to achieve its goals with a clear vision and a noble mission by offering a distinguished four-year academic program divided into eight semesters, in accordance with comprehensive quality standards.
Vision
The Department of Mathematics aspires to achieve distinguished outcomes in mathematical sciences and to gain local and international recognition in the fields of scientific research and teaching by achieving academic quality.
Mission
Providing distinguished educational and research services for the bachelor’s level in mathematics.
Goals
Through the general objectives of the College of Science and the specific objectives of the Mathematics Department, the Department of Mathematics aims to the following:
- Graduating scientific and practical competencies to fill specialized positions in the government and private sectors.
- Develop study plans in line with the requirements of preparing graduates with cognitive skills to serve society.
- Attracting talented people in mathematics to qualify them for teaching and research positions, and prepare them to be faculty members in the future.
- Promoting scientific research in the field of mathematics, studying mathematical problems, conducting scientific research to find appropriate solutions to them, and participating in national and international conferences.
- Ensuring continuous, sufficient and serious updating of knowledge related to sports topics.
